Humanitarian & Compassionate Exception Applications

Individuals who are otherwise not eligible for permanent residence under any of the family, economic or refugee categories may apply for an exception to the immigration regulations under the Humanitarian & Compassionate category.

The factors looked at by IRCC include but are not limited to:

  • How settled the person is in Canada.
  • General family ties to Canada.
  • The best interests of any children involved, and.
  • What could happen to you if we do not grant the request.
  • Other relevant humanitarian factors that would necessitate the granting of the permanent residence.
