In the United States, the law provides a number of ways for immigrants to earn lawful permanent residency through employment. This is what is often referred to as getting a Green Card. The process of becoming a lawful permanent resident is know as \u201cadjustment of status.\u201d To be eligible to adjust status in most cases, you must be present in the United States after being \u201cinspected and admitted\u201d or \u201cinspected and paroled\u201d by an immigration officer. <\/span><\/p>\n
