The Global Talent Stream is an expedited Labour Marker Impact Assessment (LMIA) and part of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. The GTS program is suitable for companies that are innovative and require highly unique and specialized talent to help companies scale up and grow or looking to hire skilled IT workers in a particular predetermined list of occupations.

Requirements

• Employers must develop a Labour Market Benefits Plan (LMBP). The plan emphasizes the creation of employment opportunities for Canadians and permanent residents or focuses on training and upskilling the Canadian workforce
• Employers must offer wages no less than the highest standard among the regional median from Job Bank, existing employee salaries, or statutory GTS thresholds
• This type of LMIA does not require extensive advertisement, as long as the employer can show efforts to hire from the local Canadian pool of candidates.
• Employers must provide proof that wages meet the highest applicable standard and must continue to pay at that level for the duration of the temporary foreign worker’s permit
• Foreign nationals must have at least 5 years of IT work experience
